Meet Your Practitioner

Hi, I’m Mickey Marshall, a Canadian Certified Counsellor born, raised and based in Yellowknife, NT.
My path into counselling began through my own experience with grief and loss after losing my mother as a teenager. That experience shaped the way I understand people, relationships, and healing. Returning to Yellowknife as an adult has been an important part of my own journey, and I feel grateful to now support the community that helped shape me.
I work with adults, teens, and couples navigating challenges such as anxiety, stress, burnout, depression, ADHD, trauma, grief, relationship concerns, intimacy issues, and life transitions. I have a particular passion for helping people better understand themselves, improve their relationships, and move out of patterns that keep them feeling stuck.
My style in session is warm, collaborative, down-to-earth, and non-judgmental. Clients often tell me they appreciate having a space where they can be honest, feel understood, and not feel “analyzed” or rushed. While I absolutely believe coping strategies and practical tools can be helpful, I also believe lasting change often comes from understanding the deeper roots of our struggles, not just managing the symptoms. Together, we work to explore patterns, experiences, relationships, and beliefs that may be contributing to the concerns bringing you to therapy.

THERAPY YOUR WAY
Emotionally, clients can expect therapy with me to feel supportive, honest, reflective, and sometimes challenging in meaningful ways. Healing is not always about “fixing” yourself. Often, it is about gaining insight, developing self-awareness, learning new ways of relating, and creating space for parts of yourself that may have been ignored for a long time.
